Which documents should I submit with a visa application?

• Documentation to submit with an entry visa application for work in Switzerland

  The following documents are in general required when applying for an entry visa for work in Switzerland:

  • authorisation issued by the cantonal authority (original or copy)
  • application for a long stay visa (visa D)
  • valid passport (original)
  • a recent photograph
  • visa fees

  If your stay in Switzerland does not exceed 90 days, please contact the Swiss representation.

Work / Internships

Applications for a work or internship visa (for a duration over 120 days) have to be done by the employer in Switzerland and are no longer accepted at the visa section (for further information please consult the links below:

The authorization of long-term stay visa falls under the competence of the various Swiss cantons. Applications have to be submitted to this Consulate General which will forward the application to the respective authority. List of cantonal authorities.
